FAQs

  • All of Educe products are meticulously handcrafted with care and precision in our workshop located in the heart of Hobart, Tasmania.

  • Our products are crafted from the highest quality concrete, which is formulated in-house and incorporates state-of-the-art additives and admixtures for maximum performance. This Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC) is extraordinary durable, very dense, and incredibly strong; in fact, it is typically 10 times stronger than standard concrete. This innovative formulation allows us to push the limits of concrete design.

  • Our concrete begins its life as a complex mixture of ingredients in liquid form; and then this “liquid stone” is cast into forms and moulds to make our products. Through this hand-made and organic process, variabilities and characteristics can arise. Characteristics such as pin holes, swirl mark and textural difference can arise; and these are natural reflections of the material. Please see our characteristics guide for more information.

  • Our products are fully sealed before leaving the workshop. We utilize an integral water repellant admixture in our concrete mixture that acts as a sealer throughout our products. Furthermore we apply a topical sealer that is a hybrid between penetrating and micro film forming. Our sealer hardens the surface, is stain and scratch resistant, cannot peel or flake, is suitable for interior and exterior use. Sealed from the inside out.

  • Educe has developed a wide range of 30 in-house colours that cover a wide gamut of hues and variations. These 30 colours have been distilled down from hundreds of colours developed over years. Please check out our colour page for more information.

  • We offer custom colours on a case by case basis. Developing new colours is possible, but can be a fraught and time consuming process, especially when it has to be closely matched to a Hex code. A simpler approach is by modifying our pre-existing colour range; where we can change the tint (less pigment for a lighter colour), shade (adding black pigment) or vibrancy (adding more colour pigment).

  • Unfortunately at the moment we don’t have a showroom, distributors or retailers. We are a small, modest factory in Hobart; if you want to see our products you are welcome to make an appointment.
